The path to peace
Healing Center in Delray offers ways to cope with life’s
issues.

Special Correspondent Justine Ding left behind family,
belongings and her native land of China and headed to
the west on a spiritual mission – to find peace,
happiness and purpose.
She lives in Canada and then America, landing several
good jobs and meeting interesting people along the way.
But nothing seemed to fulfill her until she ended up
at the Quantum Healing Center in Delray Beach, where
she learned that what she had been searching for, for
almost a decade, had been with her the whole to me.
“I found my peace within,” said Ding, 36,
of Boynton Beach, who had taken classes at the center
for about two years, “I have found happiness,
serenity and a spiritual home in a time when the world
is so troubled.”
Quantum Healing Center, a nonprofit, nondenominational,
spiritual growth foundation, had an open house in March
to introduce the center’s new programs, instructors
and services.
“We work with people to help them deal with life’s
issues,” said Brian Sheen, the center’s
executive director and a facilitator. “Our mission
is to help people have a healthy mind, body and soul.
We give people new skills and tools to obtain greater
enjoyment in life”
“War is on the minds of everyone right not,”
Sheen said. “If a person has unease of mind, they
don’t have peace. We reflect on getting rid of
negative thoughts and concentrating energies on something
higher. We create more energy to focus on the Divine
Spirit.”
The center, now in its ninth year, offers meditation,
yoga and dancing classes, alternative therapies such
as acupuncture, hypnosis and Incan transmutation, an
ancient technique with roots in Peru, and speakers on
a variety of topics.
Deep-healing sessions are designed to help people find
the underlying causes of negative feelings and get to
the root of their unhappiness. A popular course in miracles,
held Wednesdays and Sundays, gives students tools to
let go of fears, anger and guilt.
The center has a large room for group sessions and four
offices for individual sessions with practitioners and
therapists. It has a flotation tank filled with saltwater
designed for washing away stress and floating in a weightless
state in silence or with music.
“We all have stress every day in our lives,”
said Gail Sternlieb, 68, of Boca Raton, a former paralegal.
“I began taking classes five years ago to relieve
work related stresses. I also had a great deal of tension
because I was facing a family crisis. My mother was
terminally ill. The center has been a blessing to me.”
Sheen came to the center after exploring other religions
and philosophies.
“I was brought up in a very nonreligious Jewish
family,” Sheen said. “We only did the holidays.
At 15, I embraced Buddhism. Then I tried dianetics.
Later, I embraced Jesus, and later, Krishna and Science
of Mind. I honor all paths as being different spokes
in the wheel of life. All bringing us together to out
One Source in whatever name we give it.”
Sheen, 50, a former resident of Brooklyn, N.Y, moved
to Florida in 1975. He has a masters degree in hypnotherapy
from the American Institute of Hypnotherapy in San Diego
and a doctorate from American Pacific University in
Hawaii.
He has written six books, including When Life Becomes
overwhelming and Nest Egg Investing. He is also the
host of a live radio show broadcast noon Wednesdays
on WBZT, AM 1230. The show is replayed 2p.m. Sundays.
“We help people find purpose and insight into
their Divine Power, whatever they may believe,”
sheen said.
The center is located at 12 NE Fifth Ave., Delray Beach.
Ongoing yoga classes are held at 9 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays,
Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and 6:15 p.m. Mondays
Tuesdays and Thursdays. A meditation class is held 6:30
p.m. Wednesdays followed by “A Course in Miracles”
at 7:45 p.m. Wednesdays. The miracles course is also
held 7 p.m. Sundays. Rates for the classes vary, however,
$10 is charged for the first class.
